Chiesi has recently opened a modern research center in Parma, which includes all the activities necessary for the development of drugs from research chemistry, pharmacology, Galen, clinical and regulatory affairs.
With more than 22,000 square meters, 181 offices, 254 laboratories and 2 manufacturing factories in GMP, where there are over 350 people, is equipped with modern technologies and an efficient organization to the highest quality standards.
To enter the field of advanced therapies, Chiesi has chosen to collaborate with the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and its experienced researchers in the field of epithelial stem cells by creating Holostem Advanced Therapies Srl, a spin-off site at the Centre for Regenerative Medicine “Stefano Ferrari” of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (CMR).
Holostem corporate object is research, development, production and marketing of drugs for advanced therapy and manages the GMP production workshop of CMR. The Mission of Holostem is to bring effective solutions to patients to serious medical problems, where the use of regenerative medicine is to be the only or the best therapeutic option (this therefore justifies the application), through scientific excellence and ethics.
Chiesi has for years been engaged in the field of rare and niche diseases, where among other things he reached the position of global leadership with Curosurf, synthetic surfactant for respiratory distress syndrome in the premature neonate developed in collaboration with Karolinska Institutet Stockholm.
In the field of respiratory diseases Chiesi also has more than twenty years experience in the development of new molecules and formulations and in the design of new delivery devices and their combination with the active ingredients.
The addition of Group Holostem complete the range of expertise available to the development of a new therapeutic armamentarium to accomplish significant leaps in the treatment of serious diseases and disabling.
Chiesi usesfull training methods for the training of personnel, specific courses organized internally with internal teaching staff, and courses organized by the company and provided by external suppliers, enrollment in specialist “ad hoc” courses “, ending with the coaching in the workplace and training “on the job”.
